Skin peeling

General information

An up-to-the-minute selection of advanced non-surgical wrinkle treatments is available from Parkkliniek. Our comprehensive range of ultra-modern peeling techniques offer excellent results without side-effects. After many years of research, great strides have been made towards creating attractive, healthy-looking skin. Peeling involves the removal of dead cells that gradually accumulate to form a thick layer.

The procedure is ideal for reducing facial lines and skin blotches that develop with age (lentigo sinilis), as well as for treating sun-damaged oily skin. Peeling products can be used to remove minor irregularities from the face, neck and chest. With a view to keeping the skin smooth and fresh looking, a six-month treatment interval is recommended for this form of cosmetic treatment.

It now generally recognised that peeling can drastically diminish facial lines, wrinkles and damage caused by exposure to the sun, dehydration and neglect. However, the mechanism by which peeling works has yet to be scientifically clarified. What is known is that skin renewal is stimulated by removing the upper layers of dry dead cells - the process known as peeling. There is also evidence that the effects of peeling penetrate deep into the skin, improving its elasticity.

Two forms of peeling are available for the safe and effective removal of minor acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles: glycolic peeling and lactic acid peeling. Both treatments are provided in six-session courses.

Another option is phenol peeling, but this is not recommended for dark-skinned people, in whom it can cause permanent discolouration. If you have dark skin, you are advised to ask one of our doctors for advice. All patients should use a high-factor sunblock in the period following treatment.

Procedure

With a view to optimising the outcome of the treatment, you should treat your skin at home with appropriate products for at least two weeks before your first peeling session and two weeks after the last session. Your doctor will advise you on the best products for your particular needs and skin type.

Outcome

A natural beauty enhancement. Parkkliniek offers glycolic peeling, lactic acid peeling, phenol peeling and numerous other options. This new and gentler approach to skin rejuvenation has all the benefits of laser treatment and older dermal abrasion and chemical peeling techniques, but is also safer, quicker and more straightforward, as well as being painless and causing no visible problems.

How long the effect lasts differs significantly from one person to another. Factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle and muscular activity all play a part in this regard. A course of peeling treatment begins with a free informative consultation. Everyone is different, so, in the course of the consultation, your doctor will discuss your needs in order to identify the most suitable treatment for you. Thereafter, you will return to the clinic for each session of a skin peeling, which is carried out under professional supervision.
