Soft liposculpture for treatment of cellulite remedy

General information

Soft liposculpture is a very different technique from liposuction or liposculpture. Using this procedure, it is now possible to remove excessive local accumulations of fat under local anaesthetic. Just imagine - in the space of a few hours, you can finally rid yourself of unsightly bulges.

What exactly is soft liposculpture?

This procedure is a cosmetic surgical procedure for the removal of local fat deposits. It is usually performed on the tummy, hips and legs, but sometimes on the arms or jowls as well. All these parts of the body lend themselves to enhancement by soft liposculpture. The procedure is an excellent way of improving your figure, but should not be regarded as an alternative way of losing weight.

Consultation

In the course of a consultation, you will be given a clear treatment quotation, detailing the number of sites to be treated and the associated fees. Charges for the treatment are based on the number of treatment sites. However, if more than two sites are treated in a single session, a lower fee is payable per site. If the information presented here does not answer all your questions, we will be happy to tell you anything else you need to know.

The treatment itself

The treatment is normally carried out under local anaesthetic, but general anaesthetic may sometimes be used, where the doctor considers this appropriate. First, the areas of the body to be treated are marked up and anaesthetised. At each treatment site, the physician then makes a small incision in the skin - a mere two or three millimetres in length. Next, an anaesthetising liquid is injected into the part of the body under treatment, which causes the fat cells to swell up and become more fluid. The cells are then sucked out using a special instrument inserted through the incision. Fat cells that are surgically removed in this way are not replaced by your body, because no new fat cells are made after puberty. The effect of the treatment is therefore permanent, although you should of course keep your weight reasonably stable. The changes in the shape of your body are irreversible, and the skin will normally adjust accordingly. Furthermore, the incisions made are so small that any scarring will be almost unnoticeable.

Afterwards

Depending on how many sites are treated, the procedure lasts one to two hours. Once you have had something to eat and drink and you feel normal, you are free to return home under supervision. However, you will need to wear special support tights for a few days while your skin contracts. Bruising caused by the procedure normally subsides after one to two weeks. If stitches are inserted in the surgical incisions, the stitches can be removed eight to ten days after the procedure. Thereafter, we ask clients to return for a check-up roughly six months after undergoing the treatment. The ultimate outcome will be apparent only once the treated areas have stabilised five to six months after the treatment.

Frequently asked questions on soft liposculpture

When is soft liposculpture appropriate?
The treatment can be used to deal with localised accumulations of fat. It is important to recognise that this treatment is a means of correcting the figure, not a way of achieving general weight loss.
What is the sequence of events?
The first step is to arrange a consultation. During the consultation, you will be given the opportunity to explain what you want to achieve and what your expectations are. The consultant can then advise you whether the treatment is appropriate for you. Ultimately, it will be the physician concerned who decides whether the treatment is indicated in your case.
Will my insurer or national health insurance fund pay for the treatment?
In most cases, it is not possible to claim for the cost of this kind of treatment. Private insurers and national health insurance funds will pay only for treatment that is medically indicated, not for treatment with a cosmetic purpose. However, some supplementary policies will pay some of the costs of cosmetic treatments, subject to a limit of one claim every three years. We advise you to make enquiries with your insurer.
What does soft liposculpture actually involve?
The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. A small incision is made in the skin, through which a thin tube is inserted. Anaesthetising liquid is then injected through this tube. Once the area is anaesthetised, excess fat cells can be sucked out. Following the treatment, you will need to wear special supportive tights for a while to control swelling and allow your skin to adjust to the new shape of the tissues beneath.
Will soft liposculpture make me loose weight?
No. The treatment is not an alternative to dieting. It is, however, an excellent way of removing local fat deposits on, for example, the tummy, upper abdomen or buttocks.
What is lymph drainage and what is its purpose?
Lymph drainage is a special fluid-expelling massage technique, which is usually performed by specialist physiotherapists. This form of treatment is not strictly necessary, but does help to promote circulation following soft liposculpture. If you wish to receive lymph drainage treatment, it is best to begin a course of massage as soon as possible after your treatment. The costs of additional lymph drainage will usually be met by your health insurer.
What side-effects or complications are associated with soft liposculpture?
Bruising and swelling are quite common. Bruises normally disappear within three weeks, while swelling can take eight to twelve weeks to subside. Other complications, such as infection or obvious scarring, are very rare.
What outcome may I expect?
The treatment is excellent for people who have local fat accumulations that remain in spite of dieting and exercise. It is not an alternative to general weight loss. Naturally, we do our utmost to ensure that the outcome is what you had hoped for.
Does soft liposculpture leave scars?
Yes, but only very minor ones. Furthermore, the doctor who carries out the procedure will try to make the incisions in places where they will not easily be visible, such as along natural folds in your skin. The cuts are normally two or three millimetres long, and are hard to detect once a little time has passed.
How quickly can I return to work?
That depends a lot on you and the type of work you do. We advise everyone to take a few days' rest at least. Most people are able to go back to work a number of days after treatment, some sooner.
How quickly will I see the effects?
The treated areas should stabilise three to six months after treatment. However, you will be able to see that your figure has changed quite soon after soft liposculpture.
